La Parola Capovolta (The Word Turned Upside Down) is a video work by artist Paola Gandolfi premiered at AlbumArte | VideoArtForum. Paola Gandolfi, a multifaceted artist, has always investigated the image of women with an introspective gaze, multiple and inverted at the same time: the female figure is dissected, disjointed, fragmented. Gandolfi, probing the multiple possibilities of the imagination and the unconscious and drawing on a fantastic and surreal imagery, is constantly searching for the meaning of that being a woman beyond the surface, the epidermis. In her works ‘the word’ understood as thought and as imagination is turned upside down, the normal flow of thought is investigated backwards, from outside to inside, from cosmic space to the womb.
The screening of the artist’s video was accompanied by a conversation with Benedetta Carpi De Resmini, Paola Gandolfi and Monica Vacca.
