ESPACIOS URBANOS

Curated by Ludovico Pratesi in collaboration with Benedetta Carpi De Resmini

April 15-August 1, 2009, Fundation Proa, Buenos Aires

Epacios Urbanos is a project held at Fundacion Proam which aims to analyse the evolution of the concept of the city in contemporary culture through the ideas and photographs of the five most important exponents of the so-called Düsseldorf School: Andreas Gursky, Candida Höfer, Axel Hütte, Thomas Ruff and Thomas Struth. The exhibition consists of about 50 works ranging from the early 1980s to the present that outline the different interpretations the artists have with urban space. For the first time, Andreas Gursky, Candida Höfer, Axel Hütte, Thomas Ruff and Thomas Struth confront each other in a group exhibition on a common theme – the city – that opens up different keys to interpretation.
